Eric Reed

Eric Reed is lead counsel in various complex civil matters for The Reed Law Firm, PLLC. He currently represents individuals, corporations, and government entities in a variety of commercial litigation, including contract actions, construction litigation, products liability, intellectual property, and personal injury.

Mr. Reed also represents clients in white collar criminal matters, general criminal matters, and other litigation before federal and state courts and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He has successfully represented individuals and companies in criminal and civil enforcement investigations involving healthcare, securities, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, wire fraud, and money laundering. In addition, Mr. Reed provides counsel to clients in matters relating to corporate
governance and compliance and is a frequent speaker and commentator on these matters.

Before forming The Reed Law Firm, PLLC, Mr. Reed served for ten years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Texas. There, he led investigations of corporations and their officers involving corporate fraud, violations of environmental laws, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He also was lead prosecutor in cases involving public corruption, money laundering, wire fraud, and drug trafficking organizations. As an attorney for the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel in 2000-2001, Mr. Reed advised Department of Justice officials and United States Attorneys nationwide on matters involving ethics in federal investigations, grand jury practice, and litigation.

Mr. Reed began his legal career by serving for two years as a law clerk for the Honorable Filemon B. Vela, United States District Judge for the Southern District of Texas. He received his B.A. in 1989 from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1993. He is admitted to practice in Texas state courts, the Southern District of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
